Statesville Montessori is proud of its amazing sense of family and service. Our small size allows parents and staff to know one another and collaborate on a level unheard of in other school environments. Please consider lending your time and talents to keep our tradition of service strong.
The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) meets on the second Monday of each month at 3:15pm in the school cafeteria. All are welcome.
Our PTO aims to encourage parental involvement, effective communications between teachers and parents, and facilitates fundraising to support school-wide and classroom needs including our annual Reverse Raffle, Teacher Appreciation, and Field Day.
There is no formal membership required, please join us at our next meeting!
Getting its start in 2003, this is the largest fundraiser of the school year. Everyone waits for their name to be called while enjoying a steak dinner (included with their tickets) with family and friends. One by one tickets are pulled and participants are eliminated. Excitement builds as the longer your name goes unsaid, the closer you get to a chance to win $10,000!
Over the years, PTO has been able to purchase new gymnasium flooring, awnings and stage curtains as well as upgrades to the computer room and its technology.
The PTO encourages all SMS families to take an active part in the coordination and success of this fundraiser by purchasing a tax-deductible $100 raffle ticket as well as contributing to themed Class Baskets that are put together for the evening. Baskets are raffled off as well - and these tickets can be purchased for $1 per chance.
This year's Reverse Raffle is on Saturday, November 16th at 6:30 in the school gym.
Another important role that parents are asked to consider is that of Room Parent. Each classroom has one, two or three parents that oversee classroom crafts and celebrations. Though the responsibilities differ among classrooms, Room Parents may coordinate Snack Box, assist with field trip planning and provide any other assistance that the teachers may need. Please speak with your child's teacher if you would like to volunteer for this important role.
